Owned and operated by Michele and João Ribeiro, the U.S. Gymnastics Development Center has been in Mahwah for more than 19 years. It offers a variety of gymnastic classes for everyone from the eager beginner to the hardened veteran. There is state and regional training available as well. The owners strive to properly instruct each student to their potential in a safe environment. The student to teacher ratio for the Mom/Dad & Me program is 6:1 while all other special programs are 10:1 The gym has a giant foam pit, and it accommodates birthday parties, private lessons and open workouts.
The family-owned Gymnastic Academy of Boston has been training boys and girls up to age 18 since 1972. This Norwood location is the parent branch of a chain of four Massachusetts academies and offers beginner to competition-level classes. The facility features a tumble track, mini and regular trampolines, a foam pit, a rock wall, a vault, uneven and parallel bars, beams, rings, a pommel horse and moon bounces. The academy also has a parents' viewing room, cubbies for personal belongings and a small pro shop. All of the coaches are USAG safety certified.
