Douglas Lumber, Kitchens & Home Center, located in Smithfield, R.I., is one of the largest independent contractor lumberyards in New England. One system is a home remodelers equivalent of a video game, capable of sketching 3-D kitchen floor plans. Another computer-design assist is supplied by the Benjamin Moore paint-matching system. The computer can laser scan and provide a color match when given a small swatch of fabric or wallpaper. Its kitchen installations feature the company s own floor tile, countertop materials, cabinetry, sink fixtures and wallpapers. Additionally, the company offers professional kitchen designers to provide free consultations.
