Sportsplex West is a locally-owned, state-of-the-art sports and recreation complex owned by two former athletes and brothers-in-law, Pat Yacinich and Mike Mahoney. Sportsplex West features a basketball court, two volleyball courts, two batting cages, a gym, a rock climbing wall and a multi-use Astro Turf field. It serves athletes of every age group and level of intensity.
Waukee Wellness and Chiropractic is a full-service physiotherapy clinic with chiropractic and massage therapy available. Founded by Dr. Wesley Nyberg, Waukee Wellness features state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated staff. Waukee Wellness not only offers the full range of chiropractic services but also offers nutritional and lifestyle consultation, corrective exercise, rehabilitation, cryotherapy, moist heat therapy and interferential muscle stimulation.
Operated by Head Coach Cheri Gilroy, Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping is a fitness center offering training through resistance bands, medicine balls and cardio kickboxing bags. It offers a 10-week fitness program, an FIT (Farrell's Infinite Transformation) program and a low-impact program. The programs feature student challenges that encourage personal growth as well as instructor challenges to ensure that employees are kept sharp. Martial arts training is also offered at Farrell's US Martial Arts, which is located in the same building as Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping.
Max Life Fitness was opened in 2010 by Ryan Arguello and Melissa Grandon. It offers a variety of classes, including yoga, aerobics, kickboxing and kettle bells, which are held in a large matted and mirrored room. There are no machines or free weights, other than those used in classes. Members work with fitness coaches who tailor programs to meet their individual needs with a focus on nutrition. The program includes a 40-day makeover challenge which can be rolled over into a year-long membership.
Holmes Health & Fitness is a locally owned gym founded by Bryce Holmes, a bodybuilder and personal trainer. Holmes' personal trainers can help patrons meet their fitness, weight loss or athletic goals. Classes offered include kickboxing, yoga, body sculpting and Zumba. Tanning is offered here as well.
Located just north of Hickman on Venture Drive, Jacob's Gymnastics is a locally owned gymnasium and gymnastics learning center. Jacob's offers classes and clinics for all ages, including cheer/tumbling classes, the AmeriKids competitive team and introductory "tot" classes for 2- and 3-year-olds. With a 4,000-square-foot facility and a dedicated staff of coaches, Jacob's is the place to learn cheerleading skills and competitive gymnastics or to just have some fun and stay in shape. There are open gym days, and Jacob's is also available for private birthday parties and other events.
