You can find on-street metered parking on Main and adjacent streets. Three city-run parking garages are in the area, and many of the local establishments validate. The Main Promenade is located on the east side of Main Street between Walnut and Olive Streets, rates are about $1/hour.

Mornings in Huntington are spectacular, and breakfast eaters can enjoy a scenic walk on the beach. Then nosh on the standard fare at Starbucks or IHOP, or choose from the local restaurants' specialties at Sugar Shack or the Longboard. Sit inside or park yourselves at the outdoor tables right on the sidewalk. The food is great, and so is the people-watching. Many a meal has stretched for hours when visitors are caught up watching surfers and swimmers strut down to the famous Surf City beach, where the sand begins just across PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) at the end of the street.

Most of the action for families finishes at 10 p.m. Adults can continue to enjoy the nightlife.

There is no charge to stroll the street and window shop, but if you're in the market for a new swim suit, surfboard, or skateboard, bring your wallet. The restaurants and night clubs are hard to pass up, and the area offers two great choices of ice cream. Dining could be a delicious fish taco at Wahoo's, pizza at BJ's or upscale seafood. Depending on your mood (and your budget) you will be happy on Main Street.

A contemporary art museum sits on Main Street, and the Surfers' Hall of Fame is just around the corner. This is the place locals go to hang, or to watch sports in one of the bars. Souvenir seekers should visit Beach Island, just a block from the beach.
