Founded in 1991, TRI, also known as the Treatment Research Institute, is a nonprofit research and development organization that offers services to reduce the effects of alcohol and drug abuse on individuals, families and communities by employing scientific methods and disseminating evidence-based information. It specializes in the areas of criminal justice, treatment evaluation and informatics, behavioral interventions, and practice and research collaboration .The organization offers a range of training and consultation programs on various topics related to addiction assessment, treatment and evaluation. The Treatment Research Institute is funded through investigator-initiated grants and contracts from federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
