Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers was started by Margaret and Phillip Isely as a door-to-door business. The first store was opened in 1963 in Lakewood, Colo. Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers is now one of the largest supplement retailers in the United States. The company offers more than 35,000 different products, including natural groceries, organic produce, frozen food, dairy items and body care products. In addition, it operates a nutrition library that provides health care tips to customers. Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers also offers recipes of various vegetarian and nonvegetarian dishes. The company operates more than 25 stores in Colorado and New Mexico. It employs more than 500 employees.
