Started by Bill McGuckin in 1955, the company has grown from four people in four departments to more than 315 employees in its operations. McGuckin Hardware has a 60,000-square-foot sales floor in its store and also has a 55,000-square-foot distribution center, which is located in northern Boulder. The company s store has moved several times, though never more than a block away from its original location. In 1978, it moved into its present home, which was expanded in the mid-1990s.
