The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh is a municipal corporation that is charged with providing affordable housing for low-income persons. It is governed by a seven-member board of directors that establishes goals and approves policies and budgets. The authority provides publicly assisted housing. It currently houses more than 20,000 residents and manages over 7,000 public housing units. The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh operates a homeownership program that offers public housing residents with opportunities to realize the dream of owning their own homes. Its community affairs department develops press information, annual reports, quarterly news magazines, marketing pieces, as well as informational brochures, publications, and video and slide presentations. The authority s facilities services department conducts inspections and performs repairs. Its resident self-sufficiency department is responsible for providing supportive service coordination and case management programming for residents.
