The Duke Roufus Academy offers specialized group classes and private lessons in contemporary Roufus kickboxing, jiujitsu, boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) for adults and children (ages 2-12). The academy is filled with durable, professional-grade training equipment (heavybags, speed bags, double-end bags and pole bags) and features over 4,000 square feet of matted training and wall area. Students can start at any time and proceed at their own pace, advancing to the higher belt levels once the instructor feels they have achieved an understanding of the basic skill set at their current level. Students never have to spar if they prefer not to. The Duke Roufus Academy is located on 76th Street, one block south of Bluemound Road.
DefenseWorks is operated by Wesley Manko, an author and instructor of various self-defense techniques. He has extensive training in police defensive tactics, Tae Kwon Do, boxing, Aiki-Jitsu, Kempo, fencing, combat Hapkido and other schools of defense. Class schedules are available online.
