Founded in 1973, Austin Community College is a two-year community college providing university transfer curriculum, work force training, continuing education, and basic adult education opportunities to the citizens of Austin, Texas. It also provides technical certificate programs, two-year associate degrees, foundation skills and English as a second language courses, and a continuing education program. The college offers associate of arts and science degrees in more than 30 university transfer majors, and associate of applied science degrees and certificates in over 50 technical fields. Its list of courses includes accounting, art, biology, business management and administration, chemistry, civil engineering, cosmetology theory, economics, electrical technology, emergency medical services, horticulture, legal administration, natural science, legal assistant and health sciences. The college enrolls more than 65,000 credit and noncredit students annually. It has a full-service library that offers research materials, resources by subject, e-journals, reference tools and class guides for students.
