Excelsior Education Center, located in Victorville, Calif., provides an alternative to traditional schooling for students. The institution is an accredited and state-funded charter school. The textbooks are supplied free of charge for the length of the course of study and they are returned when the course of study is completed or upon withdrawal from its program. The school provides a personalized learning home-study program that enables each student to have a learning plan that is customized to individual needs. The home is considered the primary classroom and the parent or guardian is considered the primary teacher. Once the students are enrolled, they are assigned to a credentialed staff member called a facilitator. This person facilitates the learning process for the student and the parent or guardian by being the point of contact for any problems that may arise, assistance needed, overseeing the progress that is being achieved and ensuring proper pace is maintained.

Mesa Linda Middle School, located in Victorville, Calif., is a private school offering an extensive curriculum for students in grades six through eight.
