The EBCLC is the largest provider of free legal services in the East Bay. The center is particularly concerned with ensuring fair access to the legal system for low-income individuals and for non-native English speakers. It also offers important experience in, and education about, the needs of poverty-stricken communities to UC law students. Founded in 1979, the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund is one of the leading national civil rights law and policy centers in the United States. It is operated by individuals with disabilities and parents who have children with disabilities. The agency helps to advance the civil and human rights of people with disabilities through legal advocacy, training, education and legislative development. The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund provides training and education to people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities about their rights under state and federal disability rights laws. It also educates lawyers, service providers and government officials about disability civil rights laws and policies. The center maintains a location in Berkeley, Calif.

The Homeless Action Center offers professional legal services to homeless and mentally ill people throughout Alameda County. The Center provides assistance with supplemental security income, food stamps, Medi-Cal, social security disability insurance and cash-assistance programs for immigrants. The Center also staffs law student interns throughout the year who help to interview people and draft appellate briefs.

Community members can make donations to the Homeless Action Center via check, money order or Paypal.
