Pickleweed Park is located in San Rafael's Canal district and has several athletic fields situated right next to San Francisco Bay. This park has a large train-themed playground that includes climbing structures, plastic and metal slides, full and bucket swings, and a stationary train that kids can pretend to drive. The unfenced playground borders a large lawn area with shade trees, a drinking fountain, picnic tables, benches and barbecue grills. Pickleweed Park is located right next to Pickleweed Library, and they share a free parking lot.
"Dedicated to the bicentennials of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights," this small facility is located just off California Boulevard north of Lincoln Avenue. Its holdings include both genealogical and biographical material. The library has been serving the Napa area since 1991. Please note that the library is staffed by volunteers, so call ahead to make sure it is staffed before you arrive.
Chinese Historical Society of Southern California is located at the edge of Chinatown in a very unassuming little house that is brimming with photos and information about the Chinese-American experience and specifically the history of immigrants to Los Angeles and Southern California in general. The intent of the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California is to "increase awareness of Chinese-American heritage through public programs, education and research." It is celebrating 30 years of contributing to Chinese-American culture and life here in Los Angeles.
With thousands of books, CDs, and DVDs, the City of Mountain View Public Library offers many areas in and around the library for patrons to enjoy learning and expanding their knowledge. The Amelia Earhart Library is named in honor of the famous aviator who lived in nearby Toluca Lake in the years leading up to her disappearance over the Pacific Ocean. A statue in her honor is on display.
The library offers free movies, stories for children, a monthly book club, XBox game days, computer instruction and help with resume writing. It is located on the grounds of the North Hollywood Recreation Center.
