The Berlin Peck Memorial Library moved to its new location in 1990 and has been a vibrant part of town life ever since. Besides its quantity and quality of books, it also has study rooms, computers for usage by patrons, free wifi, tax forms in March and a room to use for group gatherings. In fact, many of the political debates during political season are held here.

The Gales Ferry Library is one of two public libraries in Ledyard. It was first established in 1917. In 1921 the first Gales Ferry Library opened on Hurlbutt Road. In 1970, the town merged the two libraries into a single municipal department. Together, with the Bill Library in Ledyard Center, the libraries' collection now exceeds 83,000 items, including books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, etc. The Gales Ferry Library offers free wireless Internet access. Library Director, Gale Bradbury, oversees both libraries.

Bill Library in Ledyard Center is one of two public libraries in town. It was established in 1867 and named for patron Henry Bill. The original building was expanded twice, resulting in a comfortable, modern facility that reflects the distinctive architecture of the original. Library Director Gale Bradbury oversees both the Bill Library and its smaller sister library in Gales Ferry. Together they have a collection of more than 83,000 items, including books, magazines, newspapers, videos, audio books and music discs. Both libraries offer wireless Internet.

Groton Public Library offers various services, such as online catalog, library cards, museum passes, purchase requests, interlibrary loans and job information. The library offers a wide range of best sellers, feature films, videos, reference materials, newspaper and magazines. The library also offers outreach services to readers who are unable to come into the library and arranges for home delivery of books. It provides nonprofit groups four meeting rooms that are free of cost and open to the public. It also offers picture and chapter books, nonfiction novels, references, cassettes and book kits, CD-ROMs, puppets, toys, educational kits and computer games for children and teenagers. Bill Library is adjacent to Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park, and was founded in 1888. Frederic Bill, a teacher who later became a bookseller, publisher and manufacturer, founded the library in memory of his sisters.

The library is built of brick and stone, and includes fireplaces, stained-glass windows and a collection of original artwork. The library holds best-selling fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, books on CD and cassette, DVDs, videos and materials in large print. Other services include access to electronic databases for homework and research.

The Stamford Historical Society exists to preserve the happenings of the region's illustrious past. This exciting research and educational institution can be found on High Ridge Road near the corner of Scofieldtown Road. The facility contains a library of research and geneology and displays exhibits of the past, present and future. There is also a gift shop located on the ground floor.  Visit its website to learn about volunteer opportunities and more.

Harry Bennett Library is a branch of the Ferguson Library system. It's a wonderful place for adults and children to learn new things.  The library has everything from stacks of books to magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, computers and even a used book store.  The building also contains a conference room that can fit up to 25 people and an auditorium that can seat 120. The building itself is airy and open, and offers a great view of the local wetlands. Special programs include a teen reading club and story time for children. On Saturdays, the library also has a passport application service.

The Mystic & Noank Library was established in 1894 and serves the residents of Stonington and Mystic. The first floor features the children's collection and has an acitivity room for story hour. In addition to the children's collection, the first floor has computers and houses part of the adult collection. The upper floor features the rest of the adult collection. The library offers Wi-Fi and downloadable audio books.
