Founded in 1982 to assist refugees from southeastern Asia, The Genesis Center is a multiservice organization that offers a range of services to immigrants and low-income families. It provides classes in life skills and English as a Second Language. The center serves up to 600 individuals in adult education and work force development programs. It also serves up to 70 children in its childcare program. The Genesis Center s staff and students represent more than 25 countries and over 10 language groups. Its adult education and occupational and job skills training classes focus on enabling family members to improve their employment skills. The center operates an on-site child care center that offers services to over 30 infants and toddlers and nearly 40 children between the ages of three and five. The Genesis Center has served approximately 7,500 students from more than 20 countries. Its support center provides on-site case management, job development, and health education and referral services to students and their families.
