Set up in a large office building off Pearl, Impact offers a very unique set of classes. Its extremely realistic self-defense courses simulate the threats, intimidation and violence encountered during an assault. Classes are taught by a two-man team, one taking the role of instructor, the other donning a full-body suit of armor and taking the role of perpetrator. Students defend themselves with full contact. Classes are offered for men and women and a special course is offered for assault survivors. Impact also provides community courses and workplace classes, and works with local homeless shelters. Starting at the earliest ages possible, students at Wah Lum learn Kung Fu and Tai Chi at a variety of levels from the most basic to the most advanced. The instructors' lifetime experience in martial arts expects and achieves high standards for their graduates.
