University Club of Phoenix was founded and incorporated by Chet Goldberg, Jr. in 1965. The club opened its doors in newly renovated quarters at the Westward Ho Hotel in September of 1966. It remained there until the summer of 1970, when the present facility was purchased. Nineteen members provided the capital to purchase the facility. We proudly salute their foresight. Those members were: Art Allsworth, Robert Bluemle, Doug Boyd, John Croyle, Lyman Davidson, Allen Feinstein, Chet Goldberg, Bob Gottsfield, Dick Arnold, John Haldiman, Henry Harris, Byron Harvey, Larry Pavilack, Adrian Phillips, Ted Pickett, Steve Pogson, Fred Steiner, Rox Stewart, and Dave West.
