The Los Angeles Country Club was founded more than 100 years ago and is known as one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. The 36 holes of golf straddle Wilshire Boulevard as the North Course and South Course, spanning from Santa Monica Boulevard to Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Originally located at the corner of Pico Boulevard and Alvarado Street near downtown, the club found its current location in 1911. The club has hosted the Los Angeles Open, now known as the Northern Trust Open, on several occasions. The North Course completed a renovation in 2010 by architect Gil Hanse. Jim Schaeffer is the Director of Golf.
Owned by its members, the club has various recreational and social facilities, including tennis courts, a club house and dining rooms. The grounds are open only to members and their guests, with an enforced dress code.
