The senior pastor, Kim Chong Il, is fluent in Korean and English. Many of the adults in the congregation speak mainly Korean, while the children speak fluent English, so the church has English and Korean services.
There is also a camp, which about 90 children are attending this summer. They range in age from 2 to 13. The camp has 25 staff. The children go on field trips every Wednesday and on Fridays they go for half a day to the Dix Hills Pool. The children learn English, Korean, math, science and music, as well as other activities.
Dix Hills United Methodist Church is a religious community based in Dix Hills. Home to Pastor David Czeisel, the church offers Sunday worship services as well as participating in outreach programs including Angel Food Ministries and Habitat for Humanity. In addition to its on-site, community Preschool, DHUMC offers education programs including Sunday school, vacation Bible school and youth groups as well as classes for adults.
When asked to describe DHUMC in his own words, Pastor Czeisel said, "We are a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, world-wide church. We come from a variety of religious backgrounds. We feel we have a special outreach to those who have no church home, and those who have drifted away from the church for whatever reason.
