The San Mateo County History Museum preserves the dynamic and diverse history of the county inside the old San Mateo County Courthouse. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Inside, the museum hosts exhibits as well as regular tours, lectures, discussions and family and educational programs. Exhibits feature interactive kiosks, video cameras, microphones and learning-lab gadgets for an interactive experience. The museum is also available to rent for special occasions like banquets and weddings.
Museum of American Heritage is now located in Redwood City. The museum demonstrates the evolution of technology through history, design and other social elements. MOAH was founded by Frank Livermore in 1990, along with several other private collectors. It has tours on the weekends and has many interesting exhibits on display, and rotating special exhibits are featured often. It also has guest speakers and family events.
