Founded in 1945, Homer Electric Association is a member-owned cooperative. Its mission is to provide reliable, competitive utility services to its consumer-owners. The association, in partnership with Touchstone Energy, provides scholarship funding to Project GRAD. Project GRAD is a program in the Kenai Peninsula School District that is designed to provide staff development, increase graduation rates and prepare students for college. The schools targeted for the initial phase of Project GRAD include those in Nanwalek, Port Graham, Nikolaevsk, Ninilchik, Razdolna, Tyonek and Voznesenka, Alaska. Touchstone Energy s educational curriculum, Get Charged!, has been distributed to classrooms throughout the Kenai Peninsula. Homer Electric Association, in partnership with the Kenai Peninsula School District, makes the project available to all middle schools in its district.
