ABOUT History of The Crimson The Harvard Crimson, the nations oldest continuously published daily college newspaper, was founded in 1873 and incorporated in 1967. The newspaper traces its history to the first issue of "The Magenta, " published January 24, 1873, and changed its name to "The Crimson" to reflect the new color of the college on May 21, 1875. The Crimson has a rich tradition of journalistic integrity and counts among its ranks of editorship some of Americas greatest journalists. The faces of Pulitzer Prize-winning Crimson editors line the walls of The Crimson. Past editors include John F. Kennedy 40. The name of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Class of 1904, is proudly engraved upon The Crimsons presidents chair. One hundred and thirty-five years after its founding, having grown from a fortnightly newspaper to a daily, The Harvard Crimson continues to flourish with a strong body of undergraduate staff volunteers. What We Print The Harvard Crimson is the only breakfast-table daily newspaper in Cambridge, MA. The Crimson publishes every morning, Monday through Friday, except on federal and University holidays. In addition to the daily newspaper, The Crimson publishes an extended sports section on Mondays ; an arts section on Tuesdays ; and Fifteen Minutes, the weekend magazine of The Crimson on Thursdays. Cambridge-Ellis School, established in 1981, is a nonprofit private preschool accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The school offers education for children up to 5 years. The school campus offers six classrooms, two playgrounds, and garden patches. The school programs feature science, language after school programs in Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish. The school s curriculum includes art, music, dance and sports. About Greek Institute Our mission is to create a greater awareness and understanding of the extraordinary achievements of Greek culture from antiquity to the present. All the programs and events of Greek Institute are designed to reflect these values. They also reveal the strong presence of Greek culture in Western civilization. Greek Institute is an independent, non-profit ( 501C3 ) cultural and educational institution. It was founded in 1988 by well known educator and translator, Athan H. Anagnostopoulos, Ph.D. It is governed and advised by individuals of Greek descent and Philhellenes, who are dedicated to the success of its programs and long-term goals. New School of Music, located in Cambridge, Mass., has been offering music instructions to individuals for more than 30 years. It offers private lessons for various instruments, including bass, cello, clarinet, Spanish cojon, Scottish fiddle, flute, guitar and Middle Eastern oud. The Institute for International Urban Development is committed to promoting sustainable urban and regional development. We operate at the policy, program and project levels with teams that include regional experts and members of our network of local affiliates. In all of our activities, we work with decision-makers, executive agencies, NGOs and CBOs responsible for implementation. Our action research is structured to contribute to the understanding of complex urban dynamics and the drivers of change and transformations in cities and regions. Our technical assistance activities emphasize strategy, process, and action to achieve planning and development goals in emerging economies around the world. In addition, we offer executive courses designed to help local officials acquire the skills for effective urban planning and management in the challenging context of developing countries. Our work focuses on sustainability, local development, participatory processes and community-based development initiatives. We were granted special consultative status by UN-ECOSOC in July 2007 and are active in international networks concerned with issues of development, environment and culture including ECOSOC, UNESCO, HABITAT and UNEP. We also offer internships to advanced planning students and young professionals interested in an international public service career, and we assist educational institutions in the development of their research and teaching activities. The Institute is primarily funded through sponsored activities, whether technical assistance, action research or executive education programs. Thirty-five percent of funding comes through gifts and board member contributions.
