Since 1960, City Rescue Mission has been operating as a nonprofit organization serving the homeless living in Oklahoma City. It caters to people with addiction, poverty, mental illness and lack of shelter. The center s emergency relief services meet the immediate physical needs of men, women and children. Its recovery program provides opportunities to address various life issues, such as addiction to drugs/alcohol/gambling, domestic violence, lack of education and job skills, mental illness and spiritual bankruptcy, among others. Neighborhood Services Organization, also known as NSO, is a faith-based company that serves the at-risk and homeless population in Oklahoma. Neighborhood Services Organization provides monetary assistance and health services. It serves more than 72,000 disadvantaged individuals annually. Empowering Women Public policy affects the bottom line of all businesses, but especially small business in the form of government structure, taxes, city, state and federal rules governing business, etc. The list is endless. Empowering Women is a one-day training designed to teach women business owners the importance of becoming involved in public policy, why it is important to know your elected officials before you need them, how to become a resource to your elected officials, and to teach the steps necessary to accomplish this goal. PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS IEEW believes that when women are allowed to participate equally and fully in business, then that country has a much greater capacity for economic stability and peace. Peace through Business trains women entrepreneurs in war torn countries in basic business practices, then goes a step further by providing mentorship with American women business owners. These courageous women spend 3 weeks in class learning business basics through a entrepreneurial University, then take that information and transfers it into real life through mentorship. It is incumbent upon these women to then pay forward their education to other women in their country to spread the light of entrepreneurship and democracy. Our 2010 Rwandan In-Country Students will graduate this Saturday, March 27, 2010! We are so proud of these women and all they have accomplished. They have worked the past eight weeks creating business plans and learning how to improve their businesses and their communities.
