Janice is passionate about her clients having the best possible labor and birthing experience as they bring a new soul into this world.  Janice experienced her first birthing support role thanks to her Granddaughter Ashlynn in July of 2016.  It was such an amazing experience, she wanted to get formal education and training and continue to support women and babies in the ante and post-partum stages.  She completed her Birth Doula training at Bastyr Universitys Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations in 2017 and shortly thereafter took on a year long mentorship and advanced Doula training program with Carrie Kenner of Big Belly Services. She studied sciences at UW and then turned her focus towards English literature, earning her BA. She then had a career in telecom with a primary focus as a Technical Project Manager and certified Project Management Professional, recently earning her MBA in Management and Strategy from WGU. Janice also remembers stories of how her Grandmother Myrtle in the 19th century would help educate young, pregnant, unwed women. Janice wants to carry forth the compassionate, loving support her Grandmother taught her and pour that into her Doula practice. Janices emphasis is providing heart-centered care to younger moms, first-time moms and moms looking for a birth advocate who fully believes in the empowerment of women.  Janice is a Washington native who enjoys every single sunny day we have to the fullest through gardening, biking on the local bike trails with her friends and family, and camping.  She is a life-long learner who recently completed her Yoga Teacher Training Certification and Nurses Aide Certification skills classes. She combines her love of yoga and the beach and teaches beach-side meditation; her favorite yoga mat is the warm sand. She resides in Edmonds with her husband and youngest son Devon. She enjoys frequent visits from her grandchildren, daughter-in-law and two older sons.  Rate $500

Judy is married and has two grown daughters, Alia and Shoshana. She has two dogs, Lucis and Legacy, and a cat, Maddie. When she is not working in the clinic, she teaches at the University of Washington in the Nurse-Midwifery Education Program. Why I Work at Neighborcare:I began attending births in the late 1970s as a birth assistant in a rural Oregon clinic. Motivated by my love for the work and my deep commitment to women and their health care, I began a nine-year journey that led to my becoming a midwife. Being a midwife gives me a chance to blend science and art into a role that serves women and their families. I enjoy the diversity of cultural backgrounds and birth traditions among my clients. I appreciate the opportunity to develop an ongoing supportive relationship with a woman and her family over the course of pregnancy.
