Founded in 1996, the Cottage Health System is the nonprofit organization that offers a range of health care services through various hospitals and medical centers. It maintains Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Cottage Children s Hospital, Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. The systems hospitals feature more than 500 beds and conduct over 20,000 annual admissions. Founded in 1955, Rehabilitation Institute at Santa Barbara is a 35-plus-bed nonprofit hospital that provides acute care services. It provides specialized inpatient, outpatient and community-based programs for people with brain and spinal cord injuries, neurological and orthopedic problems and various other disabling conditions resulting from injuries and illness. Its pain management program is designed to provide assistance to patients in learning skills and techniques that reduce disability caused by pain, emotional instability and helplessness. The hospital, located in Santa Barbara, Calif., also provides rehabilitation services for individuals with orthopedic-related issues that include bone fracture, joint replacement, arthritis, tendon repair and osteoporosis. Rehabilitation Institute at Santa Barbara is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs. The Buena Vista Care Center, located in Santa Barbara, Calif., is a 150-bed nursing center that provides short- and long-term health care services.
