I emphasize treating orthopedic problems in the least invasive way possible. That starts with treating injuries non-operatively first, if no surgery is absolutely necessary. Many orthopedic problems can be effectively treated with a non-operative approach that allows the patient to return to an active lifestyle. If surgery is needed, we use the most minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques to treat these disorders at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in shoulder, elbow and knee disorders for all age groups. I am passionate about getting active individuals back to the activities they enjoy. I also enjoy teaching bright medical students, residents and fellows to prepare them for their future careers. In my spare time, I enjoy extreme skiing and mountain biking out West. In 2007, I spent six weeks traveling around South America to give lectures and observe local orthopedic surgeries.
I specialize in orthopaedics, with a subspecialty in shoulder surgery. My approach to patient care is providing individualized care to each patient and problem. I believe strongly in a conservative approach and involving patients in their care. I use non-operative measures whenever possible. However, there are times when surgery is the best solution. In those cases, I use only the latest and most current techniques in shoulder surgery. I am passionate about what I do as an orthopedic shoulder surgeon. Thats because I get a lot of pleasure from treating not only the straightforward problems, but also the complex and more difficult shoulder problems. I love helping patients reclaim their quality of life and getting them back to the activities they enjoy.

My approach to patient care is always focused on the unique goals of each patient. Whether a patient wants to return to a varsity sport or walk without pain, I work with each of them to establish goals and chart a treatment course. I specialize in the treatment of sports injuries, including both operative and non-operative care. While I treat injuries throughout the body, my primary area of interest is the knee. I am interested in ligament injuries, such as the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and dislocations of the kneecap. My role as both a clinician and researcher allows me to translate the results of my research in these areas directly to my patients. At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, were extremely fortunate to have access to top experts in every medical field and the best technology available. Our team approach to patient care allows every patient to benefit from these resources.
