Richland Public Works Department is responsible for operation and maintenance of streets, wastewater, transportation, storm water, and solid waste collection and disposal. Its civil and utility engineering division provides plan review, surveying, construction inspection and project design services. The departments water division is responsible for maintaining the water distribution systems, including pipelines, valves, hydrants, pump stations and meters. The wastewater maintenance division provides maintenance and repair of sewer lines and wastewater treatment plants. Its streets maintenance division provides asphalt repair, street sweeping, crack sealing, snow and ice control, residential overlay and concrete repair services. The department operates a storm water division that cleans catch basins and storm drain lines. Located in Richland, Wash., its recycling division recycles cardboard, newspapers tins, aluminum cans, glasses and plastic beverage containers.
