The park includes bronze art of two women talking and a sculpture of a little girl sitting on a bench. The tables located along the east side of the park are perfect for picnicking or chess games. Many local employees enjoy this park as an area for an outdoor lunch on nice days.
Situated along the Long Island Sound, Cove Island Park features a 1-mile loop walking and running trail, a skating and cycling trail, a children's playground and the Sound Waters Coastal Education Center. Cove Island Park is also home to the Terry Conners Rink, which has various hockey leagues and figure skating classes. Cove Island Park stays open every day until an hour after sunset.
Kosciuszko Park, a lively recreation spot located on the shores of Stamford Harbor, features baseball fields and basketball courts. There are also picnic tables and pavilions, grilling grounds, swings and playsets. The park is open from dusk until dawn and the department of parks and recreation encourages visitors to follow the rules. Athletic field use is by permit only.
Scalzi Park is the largest recreational area within the Stamford city limits. It features tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, baseball and softball fields, running and hiking trails as well as a bocce ball arena. It also houses Cubeta Stadium, which is home to the Stamford American Legion baseball squad.
High Ridge Corporate Center is a a 40-acre corporate campus that features modern office space amid its six buildings. The complex is equipped with a fitness center, conference center, full-service cafeteria, child care and picnic areas. It is home to several businesses, including several Fortune 500 companies.
The Mianus River flows through this public park, a 220-acre deciduous forest that straddles the Stamford-Greenwich border. It's a haven for dog walkers, mountain bikers, fishermen, hikers and joggers alike. The best entrance to the park is from Merribrook Lane, which is a well-hidden street accessible from Westover Road about a mile south of the Merritt Parkway.
Jackie Robinson Park is a small but charming recreation area located on the city's west side. It features tall trees, park benches and a stone statue of the Brooklyn Dodger legend himself. The facility is open until sunset.
Veterans Park is a midtown hang out spot that shows respect for those who have died for the freedom of our country. The park is an excellent break from the hustle and bustle of city life and is located where Atlantic Street meets Stamford Forum. Close by attractions include numerous shops and restaurants, Stamford Town Center and Landmark Square. Park features include benches, picnic tables, memorials and statues. The facility stays open until 10pm every day and city services encourage visitors to abide by the rules.
Chestnut Hill Park is a recreation area nestled in the northwest hills about two miles north or the Merritt Parkway. The facility is the home of the North Stamford Little League and features wooded areas, picnic tables and pavilions. There are also basketball hoops, swings and a playset for young children.
A drive inland from Stamford brings you to private park with history. The Bartlett Arboretum offers great diversity of flora and fauna and even a spooky cemetery. There are organized events that take advantage of arts and crafts, plant sales, guided tours of the trails, fall foliage walks and children's events; this is a great place to get away. Private group tours also available. Dog-walking is allowed, but dogs must be leashed at all times and owner must pick up after the dog.
Michael F. Lione Park is a neighborhood recreational area located near the corner of West Broad Street and Stillwater Avenue. Features of the park include picnic tables, swings, playsets, grills and grassy fields for children to run and play. There is also a basketball and volleyball court as well as a baseball and soccer field on the premise.
