Riverside Park is a 1.9-acre park with a playground and a picnic table and shelter. Its Angel of Hope memorial features a monument to lost children, with an angel statue and 200 engraved bricks.
Located on the northeast corner of Sligh and Florida Avenues, the American Legion Park hosts a bevy of opportunities for family fun. The park offers a colorful playground, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, ball fields and a community center. Picnic tables and restrooms are available. The Wayne C. Papy Seminole Heights Athletic Center is located adjacent to the park. American Legion Post 611 sits across the street on Florida Avenue.
This center offers tennis courts, basketball courts and other amenities. It has summer programs for children aged 6-17, a walking trail and picnic shelters.
The eight-acre Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park features a sleek urban design, two interactive fountains, a dog run, a kiosk with restrooms, and a Pavilion building with restrooms. The park's ultra-modern playground combines video games with aerobic exercise. It also has flexible perimeter seating that can accommodate a variety of programming and performances. Curtis Hixon Park utilizes reclaimed water for irrigation and LED lighting. A segment of the Riverwalk runs through the park connecting the David Straz Performing Arts Center to the Glazer Children's Museum and the Tampa Museum of Art.
The Marjorie Park Yacht Basin Marina is operated by the City of Tampa. Long-term slip rentals are available on a month-to-month basis. Transient rentals are also available, with either a daily or weekly rate. The facility offers showers, restrooms, laundry and ice. The boat fueling station offers diesel and non-ethanol fuel. Taxi service from the marina is available and rental car locations are nearby in the downtown area, as well as at the Peter O. Knight airport on the island.
