Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department, with its office in Statesville, N.C., develops and maintains parks, trails and open spaces in the county, offers athletic programs throughout the year and provides special events for citizens. It caters to the recreational and leisure needs of citizens of the county through its various programs. Its outdoor education center develops and enhances the character of participants through individual and group achievements in a variety of shared outdoor experiences, including its rope challenge course, rapelling, camping and environmental educational center. Its special programs include adventure camps that offer backpacking, canoeing, white-water rafting, hiking, and self-defense and cheerleading sessions.
