Paramus is home to the Bergen County Zoo. County residents get a discount on the zoo, which in July and August has animal shows three times a day. The zoo also has a miniature train ride that takes a route throughout the exhibits.
Petruska Park is home to the office of the Paramus Recreation Department. The park features a baseball field, a practice football field, a playground, a handball wall, picnic tables and a basketball/roller hockey court. Restrooms are open during organized events.
McEllen Park is a neighborhood park accessible from Vassar Drive or Heather Lane. The park has two playgrounds and a basketball court.
The Van Saun County Park encompasses 146 acres that include the Bergen County Zoological Park, the Washington Spring Garden, train, carousel and pony rides, as well as picnic and fishing areas. The park is also home to the Bergen County Tennis Center, and three athletic fields for soccer, softball and baseball.
The Recreation Department is where Paramus residents go to sign themselves or their children up for the various sports the department offers, including basketball, football and soccer, or activities like trip camp or arts and crafts. Located at Petruska Park, the department hosts events for children as well, including a Pumpkin Hunt in the fall and an Easter Egg Hunt in the spring. Madison Park is a neighborhood park, located at the intersection of June and Jay drives. There are two playgrounds that get plenty of use from neighborhood kids.
Faber Park is a neighborhood park/playground located at the end of Hemlock Drive. There are two playgrounds for children ages 2 - 5 and 5 - 12, respectively.
