Meadowland Park is directly next to the Baird Community Center and has four baseball/softball fields (one with lighting for nighttime play) and a soccer-playing area. Theatrical productions and summer concerts sponsored by the Department of Recreation are held there. Meadowland Park and Flood's Hill run into each other.

Memorial Park is adjacent to the train tracks and is located just a few blocks from the Maplewood border and Columbia High School. It's a small refuge just off busy Valley Street, not to be confused with Maplewood's much larger Memorial Park (also on Valley). It has swingsets, a jungle gym, benches and picnic tables.

South Mountain Reservation is run by the Essex County government and is located in Maplewood, Millburn and West Orange. Residents from the entire area take advantage of the trails and waterways in the park and there is also Turtleback Zoo, which is located in the West Orange section of the park. Picnic areas dot the park and there are horseback riding trails. Additionally, there's a dog park with sections for large and small dogs.

One of the main access points to the park in Millburn is at the intersection of Glen Avenue and Lackawanna Place, with limited parking available inside the park. There are also access points along Brookside Drive, although no parking lots are available. Maplewood residents can access the park via South Orange and Sagamore Road.

The South Mountain Conservancy provides information and maps for the park. Additionally, it leads trail walks and hosts clean-ups and trail improvement projects.

Cameron Field is off Mead Street, across from the Baird Community Center. It's home to a regulation baseball diamond with lighting for nighttime play, a playground area, seven lit tennis courts and the community pool. When it's open in the summer, the pool has locker rooms and a snack bar. There's an adult pool, an intermediate pool and a kiddie pool.

This small park on the Maplewood border has tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a half basketball court and a playground. The Department of Recreation holds some Little League games there. It's just up the hill from the Jersey Animal Coalition shelter.

The entrance to Waterlands Park is off of Third Street; it's tucked away next to the train tracks and the Rahway River. There are three baseball/softball diamonds with lighting for nighttime play. Some Little League games are played here. There's also a field for soccer and football, and stands for fans. Additionally, there's a playground area with a jungle gym and a swingset.

The duck pond is adjacent to South Orange Middle School, off Ridgewood Road. Ducks and Canadian geese can be seen there. Off to the side is a shaded area with bocce courts and horseshoes. Famed sculptor Tony Smith's "TAU" was just installed at the intersection of Ridgewood Road and Mead Street.
