The Meriden Humane Society is the city's no-kill animal shelter. It shares a fast-moving, barking, mewing building with Meriden's Animal Control, tucked away on Murdock Avenue on the east side of town. The society relies wholly on private contributions, running independent of state or city funding. Cats and dogs are available for adoption for a fee to those who are screened. Dog adoption fees run from $250 - $350 and cat adoptions cost $25 - $75. Donations of linens, pet and cleaning supplies are requested. Volunteer dog-walkers are also in need.
This Agway is your typical farm and feed store. While it can supply all your domestic pet foods, and provide tools for the weekend gardner, it also can serve your larger scale farming supply needs. Buy some hay or a hoe. Get your chain saw serviced. Agway is the old-fashioned hardware store that the big box stores can't replace.
Gentle Jungle has accessories for pets such as leashes, collars, toys, food, and crates. If you don't have a pet, there are several available for purchase that you can pet and play with, including reptiles, rabbits, puppies, kittens, hamsters and birds.
