Debra C. Lowsky, MS, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist currently in private practice based in Columbia and Lugoff, SC. In her 25 years of experience, she has provided therapeutic services in public and private schools, daycare centers, preschool programs, home health, clinics, and long-term care facilities. She received her BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the College of New Jersey and her MS in Speech Pathology from Rutgers University. While treating infants and toddlers with oral motor delays, she became frustrated with the lack of tools for use in the field of oral sensory-motor intervention. Debras husband John Lowsky, Jr. therefore decided to develop quality products in order to fill this specialized need. As a mechanical engineer with a BS ME from Rutgers University, John began designing and re-designing prototypes based on input from his wife and other speech pathologists plus occupational therapists. Prototypes were eventually refined into products, and together John and Debbie formed ARK Therapeutic Services, Inc, a company that designs, manufactures, and distributes speech therapy tools and other healthcare products. Today, ARK continues to expand and improve in order to better serve its customers needs.Debbies Tips includes therapy tips and actual clinical experiences. Debbie still has her own caseload, providing therapy in-home, to several private schools, and at her office. Her blog provides various ways she uses Ark Therapeutic products and more. It is her intention that this information will encourage your creative therapeutic side to benefit speech therapists and the individuals they treat. These tips and techniques may also be of help to parents.
