It was formerly known as the Fremont Neighborhood Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and it moved to its current location 5 years ago. Senior Pastor Joel Mattson-Boze and his ministry staff support their members through prayer services, recovery programs, classes and more. In addition to Sunday worship services, Cedar Blvd. Neighborhood Church offers Vietnamese and Chinese language services. The church manages the King's Kids Preschool and the Stellar Academy for Dyslexics. The Cedar Blvd. Neighborhood Church is part of the  Christian and Missionary Alliance. Staff members say people can find out more about the church at "The Gathering" dinner and classes on Wednesday nights.

The church was part of the Mission San Jose and later the Mission Holy Spirit until 1920 when it became St. Edward Catholic Church. The Church offers masses in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin. The Living Hope Fellowship Center is a Foursquare Gospel Church. In 2006, it moved from Alvarado Blvd. to its current location that was once occupied by the Mother Church "Rose of Sharon." Pastor Nelson Dizon says Living Hope teaches the Bible and the church welcomes everyone with the love of Jesus. The church's worship space and its bright stained glass windows date back to the 1800s.

The Salvation Army is devoted to answering the Bible's call to service with several community outreach programs. The church offers three food programs in Newark as well as school supply drives, nutrition education classes, PG&E assistance, senior potluck dinners and more. Staff members say that these social service programs is one of the reasons why the Salvation Army has a strong relationship with the city of Newark. Church members and Newark residents kick off the holiday season by ringing bells at red kettles around the city and collecting donations. Captains John and Ruth Lee say community members are welcome to join the church during its Sunday morning breakfast before worship services at 9:30 am.
