Since its founding, the Oceanside Family Fellowship Church has followed the "fundamental truths" of the Assembly of God. This large church aims to "produce fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ" out of its congregation which is an eclectic mix of ethnicities and ages.
It features a sanctuary, a playground, offices and an Xtreme Center, a building dedicated to children. The "Extreme Kidz" program offers services for children 7-12 which feature videos, games, songs and Bible messages. Pastor Iann Schonken leads the congregation.
The San Luis Conference Center is part of the historic San Luis Rey Mission and Parish grounds. It is located further east of the Mission and is also called the McKeon Center. It can accommodate up to 350 people for such special events as anniversaries, banquets, concerts and conferences. It also is the sight for weddings, reunions and retreats.
There is an adjacent garden area that may also be rented. The center is also the sight for weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. This venue has no overnight rooms. Mission San Luis Rey Parish is a diverse and multicultural Catholic parish, but clients who rent this facility do not have to be members of this faith.
The offices for the San Luis Rey Mission Parish are located on the historic grounds of the Mission in the McKeon Center. The Parish is lead by Father Charles ‘Chuck’ Talley, OFM of the Franciscan Ministry. Mission San Luis Rey Parish is a diverse and multicultural Catholic parish that offers religious study for children and adults. Weekly services are held in the Madonna Chapel. The Parish also sponsors the Mission Montessori School. The center serves as the sight for weekly Alcoholics Anonymous, Weight Watchers and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
Immanuel Lutheran Church is located along South Nevada Street near downtown Oceanside. It offers Sunday service at 9am, with Sunday school at 10:30am. The church also offers a mid-week service at 7pm during holiday seasons, preceded by a community meal. The church has an open door policy and all are welcome to come and try out the church to see if its a good fit. The sanctuary is large, open and accommodating, and Pastor Duane sticks around after each service to greet new and returning visitors. The church also offers a preschool from 6:30am - 6pm, Monday through Friday. Parking is free in the church's lot.
Rushing Wind Ministries is a community of Christian bikers and their families. The congregation has members worldwide, and this Oceanside location is one of twelve. The non-traditional services are led by a bearded, tattooed and pierced pastor. The service is complete with rock 'n' roll worship music and humorous Bible passages. Finally, service is held in a small office in the business park located just off of College Boulevard. The office transforms into the "Holy Grounds," a space that hosts movies, music, worship and coffee.
In 1961, nine people gathered in Oceanside to create the non-denominational Lighthouse Christian Church. Fifty years later, this congregation has reached almost 1000 weekly members. Though currently in renovation, the entire campus plans to include classrooms, a gym, children's play yard, plaza and outdoor seating area, as well as 500 parking spaces. Programs here include Ladies Night Out, Children's Program, Men's Breakfast and much more. It has one traditional and two contemporary worship services every Sunday.
North Coast United Methodist Church is located near downtown Oceanside. It features a large area of worship and an open-door policy that all are welcome and encouraged to come to services. Sunday services are at 8:30am and 10am, the first being a more contemporary service and the latter being traditional in presentation.
The inside is well-lit, welcoming and nicely kept, with comfortable seating and a large sanctuary. The office is open most weekdays starting at 8:30am and there is a large playground. A list of current topics being covered in upcoming sermons can be found on the church's website, as well as church information and a blog by the pastor. Coffee and cookies are always served between services, allowing a time for members and guests to meet, talk and ask questions. Parking is free on site.
Grace Church was started in Texas over 35 years ago. It now has over 10,000 members and, just last year, brought its club to San Diego. Every Sunday, a growing congregation comes to watch Pastors Steve Riggle, Cameron Hall, and Desi Hall preach about the Bible. It also has the XtremeKidz program intended to teach newborns up to 12 year-olds about Christianity while their parents attend the main service.
San Luis Rey Valley United Methodist Church has been serving the Oceanside community for a quarter century. They are currently run by Reverand Rick and his wife. In addition to multiple Sunday sermons, this church has a number of regular events. Deeply involved with the local community, they offer Interfaith charity events, boy and girl scout troop meetings, Bible Study and a weekly "Sit-N-Sew" every Thursday.
Asamblea Apostolica Segunda De Oceanside is family oriented and has food pantries and outreach services. It also offers family arts and crafts programs where items are sold to benefit their community outreach programs. Family involved services are held on Sundays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in English and Spanish.
