Our Lady of Mt. Carmel has served as the epicenter of Catholic worship in Middle River dating back to 1887, and is also home to an elementary and high school. The church officially became a parish in 1904 and a rectory was finished a year later. It is led by Msgr. Robert L. Hartnett, who has helped guide the parish toward tremendous growth in recent years.
This church is home to not just one, but five different congregations: the First Christian Church, Congregation Biet Tikvah, Mount Olivet Christian Church, St. Andrew's Christian Community, and The Gathering. Though the congregations are distinct and meet on different times and days, they do occasionally come together to work on community service and charity efforts that benefit the community as a whole. Check the website for up-to-date services and program schedules for each congregation.
