About As being a police officer is not just another job, SFPAL is not just another league. In fact, its a league apart. Founded by San Francisco police officers a half-century ago, SFPAL is where the men and women who protect the city link arms with the community to protect the citys future. SFPAL provides San Franciscos young people with the coaching and facilities for four seasons of sports, a rigorous Police Cadet program and, most importantly, a new sense of possibilities. Unlike other youth leagues and programs, which come and go, SFPAL has been there for 50 years, knit into the citys fabric as much as the police department itself. The PAL Cadets built my self-confidence and taught me so much about life in general. Without this program, I truly believe that I would not be confident enough to make the decisions that I have made today. Sergeant Bonnie Shiu, SFPAL Law Enforcement
