About MDO! MDO is a place where children learn and grow. Each child learns to trust that other adults can and will take care of his or her emotional and physical needs. At MDO, the child finds a comfortable place within both small and large groups. Our program provides each child with an opportunity to interact with his or her peers, as well as to participate in activities that promote cognitive, social and physical development in a relaxed, nurturing, and supportive atmosphere. At MDO, PLAY is the vehicle through which children learn. MDO is also a community that serves the needs of children and their families and provides support not only to its own families, but also supports the neighborhood around us with our community outreach programs. Funding for the program comes from two sources: tuition/fees, and fundraising. MDOs operating budget is funded solely by tuition and fees ; the budget covers salaries, rent, office and classroom supplies, staff development and training, a cleaning service, insurance, etc. Money generated by the Boards fundraising activities our annual Auction and Morningside Kids Market consignment sale supports music, curriculum enrichment, creative movement, science classes, additional classroom equipment, social events, and special projects. Registration for the coming year occurs during the spring of the preceding year. Current enrollees are given first priority, followed by siblings of current or past enrollees, children who have been wait-listed, and members of Peachtree Baptist Church. Registration is then opened to the general public. A non-refundable registration fee of $100 is due at the time of registration. One months tuition is collected in May of the preceding year at the time registration is guaranteed, and is credited towards the following May tuition payment. This payment is refunded if a family moves out of the area and thirty days written notice of withdrawal is given to the director. School begins the day after Labor Day and ends just before Memorial Day. MDO is closed for holiday breaks on a schedule that coincides with the Atlanta City School system.
