Wheaton Montessori School is the only Association Montessori International–approved school in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It offers curriculum for children from 3 to 12 years of age. The school is non-denominational and non-profit and employs only teachers who have both a masters degrees and teaching certificates.
The school offers a hands-on curriculum that teaches the children responsibility through everyday activities such as washing their own lunch dishes and feeding the fish in the classroom. Basic elementary education is also taught using hands-on techniques.
Joyful Beginnings is a Christian-oriented preschool serving children ages three to five. Adjacent to Lafayette's United Methodist Church on Moraga Road, there is a Tuesday and Thursday session for 3-year-old, a Monday,Wednesday and Friday session for four-year-old and a five-day pre-kindergarten program. Since 1982, Hosanna Christian School has been one of the independent Christian schools in the Gig Harbor Peninsula. It is located off Point Fosdick Drive behind the Peninsula Library. The school provides education for preschool through 8th grade students. In order for teachers to work more closely with their students, the preschool classes have no more than nine students in each classroom. The upper grade levels have an average class size of 17 students.

Founded in 1947, Oneonta Cooperative Nursery School is the oldest parent-participation school in South Pasadena. Oneonta is a nonprofit corporation offering small classes limited to 15 students.
Merrimack Valley Montessori School hosts children ages 2 through 6. Owner Christine Brown and the staff of caring teachers ensure a safe, fun environment. The low staff-to-student ratio provides students with personalized attention. The school offers three- and five-day programs and is open September through June. Parents are encouraged to get involved with their children's education and are kept well informed about their progress.
Ashburn Village Country Day School, located on four acres along Ashburn Village Boulevard just south Gloucester Parkway, offers day care for children 6 weeks and older. Programs are divided by age with an intent to focus on all aspects of a child's development, from education and social skills to emotional and physical needs.

Since 1969, Childtowne Montessori has been serving the children and families of the Southampton community. Five mothers founded the school, three of whom still govern on the board of directors. Today, the school provides three preschool rooms, a kindergarten program and an after-care program for older elementary-school children.
