William L. Buchanan, Ph.D., ABPP is a licensed psychologist in Georgia. He has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University, with an emphasis in Clinical Child and Family Psychology. He did his internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, the Medical College of Oklahoma.  He is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Dr. Buchanan is also an Approved Supervisor and a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).  Dr. Buchanan is Board Certified and holds Diplomates from the American Board of Forensic Examiners and the American Board of Forensic Medicine. He is also a Diplomate and a Registered Custody Evaluator (R.C.E.) in the Professional Academy of Custody Evaluators (PACE).

Dr. Buchanan specializes in clinical child psychology, family therapy, neuropsychology, adoption, foster care, attachment/bonding disorders, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  He serves on the Editorial Board of The American Journal of Family Therapy, co-authored The Dictionary of Family Psychology and Family Therapy (1993). In 2001, Dr. Buchanan founded North Point Psychology, LLC, after practicing psychology in Gainesville, GA for 14 years. For three years he served as the Assistant Director of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and served for six years as the psychologist consultant to the Weight Management Program of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Buchanan is a consultant and supervisor to Eagle Ranch for Children, in Chestnut Mountain, GA. He has also served as a consultant and supervisor to the Family Relations Program (a program for sexually abused children and their families), Chair of the Legal and Legislative Committee of the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA), Chair of the Hospital Practice Committee of GPA, and served for three years as the GPA representative to the Psychology Licensing Board in Georgia. He has served on the Board of Gateway House, a shelter for abused women and their children, the Advisory Boards to the Georgia 9th District Head Start program, and the Psychology program of the Georgia Department of Medical Assistance (Medicaid). In 1995, he received the Karl F. Heiser Presidential Award for Advocacy from the American Psychological Association. In 1996, and again in 1998, Dr. Buchanan received the Presidents Award from the Georgia Psychological Association.
