Nassau County's 300 schools and 180,000 students are supported by the missions and objectives of a centralized agency. The Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) oversees all 56 school districts, implementing among them shared programs such as career training, special and technological education, alternative schools and teacher training. Formed in 1967 as a cost-effective and efficient way to manage the schools system, BOCES' 100 programs are ever-changing to reflect the educational needs of tomorrow.
