Gaudenzia Erie operates various health care facilities that provide treatment to patients suffering from mental disorders and substance abuse. The various facilities include Crossroads, Dr. Snow Halfway House for Men, and Community House for Women and Children. It provides a range of health care services, including detoxification, residential care, dual diagnosis, and outpatient and home services. Opened in 1966, Crossroads is a shelter for homeless men with addiction problems. Dr. Snow Halfway House for Men provides rehabilitation and employment assistance. Reed Childrens Center has been known and respected for high quality treatment of traumatized and " at risk" children throughout Erie County, the state of Pennsylvania, and beyond. We offer a full continuum of care for children and families. We are committed to creating a safe, therapeutic and healing environment to promote positive changes, resiliency and success. Our entire organization, from direct care to administration has committed to adopting the Sanctuary Model of trauma informed care. Sarah Reed offers a wide range of programs and services based at 5 primary locations throughout Erie County. In addition, many of these services can be accessed through our multiple school based sites. Sarah A. Childrens Center is the 48th largest employer in Erie County with nearly 400 employees and an operating budget of 15 million dollars. We are a registered 501 c 3 charitable non profit organization. Sarah Reed has the distinction of being the first human services organization established in Erie County. Since 1871, the Sarah Reed organization has continuously provided help and support to Erie County children and families in need. The Center is governed by a 24 member volunteer Board of Directors made up of highly respected community and business leaders recently distinguished for their leadership by being named the 2008 Bracken Governance Award winner. We have one of the best clinical programs in Pennsylvania staffed with 4 Doctoral level psychologists and over 40 Masters level therapists. Additionally, we have an American Psychological Association accredited and nationally recognized Pre-doctoral internship program. The Childrens Center has 2 full time Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists on staff and 2 consulting Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists as well as 25 nurses. Sarah A. Reed Childrens Center is a Pennsylvania Department of Education Approved Private Provider for Alternative Education Services. We employ 25 full time teachers/clinical instructors and provide Therapeutic Alternative Education Programs that are recognized by the state of Pennsylvania as Innovative Education Programs. The Sarah A. Reed Childrens Center is caring and committed people providing services aimed at promoting the emotional well being of children and their families, helping them to realize their potential and experience success.

Thanks to United Way funding, Family Services is able to offer counseling services to individuals without insurance at no cost or at very low cost. Additional grant funding allows the agency to provide counseling services free of charge, to any adult county resident who is actively enrolled in Medicaid. The agency also accepts most major insurances. Services can address a variety of concerns, including marital difficulties, parenting concerns, family problems, and individual adjustment issues. Social workers, counselors, and marriage and family therapists who have extensive counseling experience are available for both day and evening appointments.
