Janettee Henderson, Ph.D., is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy since 1997. With 20 years experience in private practice in Austin, Texas, Janettee excels in working with individuals, couples, and families. She also leads women’s retreats focusing on self-exploration and spiritual development. A native Texan, Janettee received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She then pursued graduate study at Texas Tech University, receiving a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 1993, and a doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1997. Janettee uses a family systems-based collaborative approach to relational wellness. In her work with individuals, couples, and families she utilizes a holistic perspective to identify strengths, increase self-mastery and enhance relational skills. Her philosophy of change is this: when we are willing to identify and let go fear, embrace love, take some risks, and accept personal responsibility for our choices, our lives can be transformed. Areas of particular interest include work with individuals and couples in the recovery community, remarried couples, women’s empowerment, spirituality, and infidelity. In addition, Janettee has both clinical and research experience in grief and loss across the life span, as well as in stepfamilies and grandparenthood.
