Hampton Golf Village is an 18-hole golf course nestled among rolling hills in northern Georgia. The course, designed by the renowned Clyde Johnston, offers a number of elevation changes on the front nine and a flat terrain, wetlands and streams on the back nine. It has received a number of accolades, including being named Best New Public Course of 2000 by Golf Digest. Hampton Golf Village also has a pro shop and a food grill. It offers annual individual and family memberships and a corporate logo program. The charming southern-style clubhouse is a great setting for special events up to 160 guests. Country Land Golf Course is a picturesque, semi-private facility located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It has been in operation since 1991. The affordable rates and beautiful countryside make this a worthy course to visit in the Atlanta area. Country Land hosts tournaments, outings and group events. Its ABC outings pair players of similar levels into teams for play. To add to the competition and sportsmanship, opposing team members are required to ride in the same golf cart.
Silver City is among a very few elementary schools in Georgia to receive a great schools rating of nine out of ten. Principal Kristan Morse leads a staff of 81 teachers who make learning fun. Special areas of study include art, music, chorus and physical education. Silver City has an active PTA led by President Jana Austin and a vibrant before- and after-school program for students.
Located in the South Gwinnett cluster, J.C. Magill Elementary School was opened in Loganville in August 1996 to relieve overcrowding in Norton, Grayson and Britt elementary schools. The school was given its name in honor of J.C. "Chris" Magill, an officer with the Gwinnett County DUI task force and member of the local community who lost his life in the line of duty in May 1993. As a result of this, the school maintains a close partnership with the Gwinnett County Police Department. Forty-six percent of the school's student population qualify for the free or reduced lunch programs. The school has 91 classrooms, 10 portable classrooms, three computer labs, two art and music rooms, a large media center, two gyms, and a large cafeteria.
The Walton County Board of Education is a group of residents elected to conduct the business and affairs of the school system. The meetings are open to the public and, under certain rules, the public is invited to address the board during the meetings, which are held at 5pm the second Tuesday of each month unless otherwise specified.
This school replaced an old one-room school that housed school-age children at the beginning of the last century. Daves Creek, built in 1996, has a dedicated staff and an active PTA who strive to make this school the best it can be. The principal, Eric Aston, is always involved and lends a hand where ever it is needed. The school strives to get students involved in all the music, art and physical educations classes possible. Daves Creek won the GA Gold Medal award for 2009.
Haw Creek Elementary is located two miles north of Georgia Highway 20 on Echols Road. One of four new schools completed in 2009, this school is home to 968 students in grades kindergarten to fifth.During its first year the school was able to meet the state school requirements for AYP (annual yearly progress), a tool used to determine compliance with the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
The teachers are very active in a variety of programs that are designed to help their students. These programs include Consulting, E.I.P., Horizons program, Special Education and Speech. The students, nicknamed the Huskies, enjoy many activities that insure a fun learning experience. Many students participate in the Art, Music and Physical Ed activities at the school.
