Waukee Elementary opened in 2010, and is one of six elementary schools in the Waukee Community School District. Waukee Elementary is home to approximately 740 students living in the city of Waukee.
In addition to its core curriculum, the school offers support services in the areas of Reading Lab, Special Education, Extended Learning, and English as a Second Language.
The school believes "that through teaching, modeling, and practicing, Waukee Elementary students will show good character by demonstrating safe, caring, respectful, and responsible behaviors."
South Middle School serves children in grades 6 through 8. Its principal is Michelle Lettington. The school offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including choir, band, plays, soccer, tennis, track, basketball, football, swimming, golf, volleyball and cross-country.
Headstart offers preschool for children agesages 3-5. They are a federally funded, free preschool program.
Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course is a nine-hole public golf course owned by the City of Waukee. A par-33 golf course, Sugar Creek opened in 2000 and is an affordable golf option for the western suburbs. The clubhouse features a pro shop that sells balls, clubs and some apparel, as well as a snack counter, putting green and driving range. Sugar Creek also offers professional instruction, league play and junior golf.
Prairieview School offers elementary, middle, and high school classes. In addition to standard English, mathematics, history, and science classes, it also offers Spanish, German, art, health, music, physical education, speech, and ESL classes. The school feature three computer labs and has iPod touches for use in classrooms. A variety of athletic and fine arts after-school programs are offered including football, wrestling, basketball, softball and cross country.
