The Sacramento Bee is a subsidiary of The McClatchy Company, a newspaper and Internet publisher headquartered in Sacramento, Calif. The company s largest newspaper is the Star Tribune in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., which it acquired in 1998. McClatchy s other operations include Newsprint Ventures, a consortium that operates the Ponderay newsprint mill near Spokane, Wash. The company employs nearly 9,300 people.
