The Oakwood Recreation Center is part of the LA Parks organization that stretches all across the Los Angeles area, including Venice. This particular center offers both indoor and outdoor facilities, including a weightless gym, a football/soccer field, a baseball/softball field, a children's playground area, basketball courts and a community room. It also holds different classes and programs for the community's children throughout the summer months and during after school hours.
The Boy's & Girl's Club of Venice offers a safe, family-friendly, community oriented place for children ages 6 to 17 to enjoy fun and games. The club offers multiple activities, including basketball, pool, theatre arts, visual arts and more. The building is massive, with plenty to do and plenty of volunteers willing to help steer kids in a positive direction. The club is open limited hours during the school year, but is open all day during the summer and vacations.
