Located in Laurel, the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center is a 23,500 square foot community venue that offers a wide variety of amenities for citizens 60 years or older. Built on six acres and sitting adjacent to the Laurel Regional Hospital Complex, this activity center offers classes, special events and activities, and is home to a fitness center, game room, computer room, snack bar, kitchen, fireplace lounge and more. North Laurel Community Center is situated on more than 50 acres of land. The center offers a range of activities and features a senior center, fitness room, dance and aerobics room, gymnasium, walking track and more. The center is equipped with classrooms and space for meetings as well as offices for county officials. Plans are in the works for an adjoining park, fitted with wide playing fields, picnic tables and playgrounds.
The commission regulates over 53,000 acres of parkland in Montgomery and Prince George's counties, including historic sites, nature centers, sports facilities and more. It also plans and protects natural resources in those areas.
