Citizens Bank Park is a stadium located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Citizens Bank Park is currently home to the MLB team the Philadelphia Phillies. The stadium opened on April 3, 2004 with the construction taking just over a two and a half years at a cost of just over $455 million, about $570 million in today’s dollars. The stadium replaced the iconic and aging Veterans Stadium. Citizens Bank bought the naming rights for the stadium in 2004.
The Philadelphia Phillies are two time World Series Champions and are members of the East Division of the National League within MLB. They are known by their team colors consisting of red, white and blue. The current owners of the Phillies are David Montgomery, Bill Giles, Claire S. Betz and William C. Buck.
The stadium currently holds 43,651 fans. There are numerous luxury suites and thousands of seats at the club level. Currently, it is the 12th largest stadium in MLB in terms of seating capacity.
In terms of parking there are several options: Lots S, V, R, Q and P are the closest to the stadium and are for VIP and preferred. Lots X, W, U and T are general parking. There is also disabled parking available.
The Kendrick Recreation Center provides residents of Philadelphia with fitness classes and activities. Individuals of all ages are invited to join in classes like pilates, Zumba, abs, yoga, training, hip hop, karate and gymnastics, and partake in other fitness activities, like basketball. Founded in 2002, and based in Manayunk, the Starfinder Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing leadership, love of learning, commitment, responsibility and character in kids from under served communities.
Offering participation in soccer activities, educational programs and enrichment services led by athletes, local professionals and people who are interested in serving as mentors for area children; Starfinder participants are taught the game, discipline, teamwork, respect and critical thinking through a variety of programs.
Starfinder has renovated a 30,000 square foot indoor facility and also organizes after school and summer programs at schools and recreation facilities.
The rewards of participating in the Starfinder program extend well beyond the soccer pitch, with the program's seniors graduating from highschool at a rate of 98% (versus the 46% of their peers, cited by the PA school system) and pursuing post-secondary education at a rate of 85%.
